Mali’s petroleum and gas landscape is characterized by a lack of domestic production and reliance on imports. While Mali has sediment basins in the center and north, particularly in the Taoudeni region, exploration activities have been limited due to factors like high costs, lack of infrastructure, and insecurity. The country’s fuel needs are entirely met through imports, primarily from Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire. Mali also imports petroleum gas, mainly from Senegal, Greece, and Côte d’Ivoire.
